Fixing Failed Definition Updates

Threat definition updates are critical for maintaining protection against the latest threats. If updates are failing, your system may become vulnerable to new malware. Follow this guide to resolve update issues.

Common Causes of Update Failures

• Internet connection issues or firewall blocking update servers
• Corrupted update cache files
• Insufficient disk space for the update download
• Proxy or network configuration preventing access to update servers
• System date and time set incorrectly (causes SSL certificate validation to fail)

Troubleshooting Steps

• Step 1: Verify your internet connection by opening a website in your browser.
• Step 2: Check that your system date and time are correct. Incorrect time settings can cause secure connections to fail.
• Step 3: Clear the update cache: Navigate to Settings > Updates > Clear Update Cache and try updating again.
• Step 4: If you use a proxy server, configure the proxy settings in Settings > Network > Proxy.
• Step 5: Ensure your firewall (including the True Protection firewall) allows connections to update.tpjsecurity.com on ports 80 and 443.
• Step 6: Check that you have at least 500 MB of free disk space for update files.
