IoT Device Protection on Your Network
True Protection by Jag includes network-level protection for Internet of Things (IoT) devices that cannot run traditional security software. Smart home devices, IP cameras, printers, and other IoT devices are common targets for attackers due to their limited security capabilities.
IoT Protection Features
- Device Discovery: True Protection scans your network to identify all connected devices, including IoT devices, and creates an inventory with device type, manufacturer, and firmware information.
- Vulnerability Assessment: Checks discovered IoT devices for known vulnerabilities, default passwords, and outdated firmware.
- Network Segmentation: Recommends and helps configure network segmentation to isolate IoT devices from sensitive data and computers.
- Traffic Monitoring: Monitors IoT device network traffic for unusual patterns that could indicate compromise, such as a smart camera sending data to unknown servers.
- Automatic Blocking: Blocks suspicious outbound connections from IoT devices to known malicious servers.
Setting Up IoT Protection
- Step 1: Navigate to Network > IoT Protection.
- Step 2: Click Scan Network to discover connected devices.
- Step 3: Review the discovered devices and confirm their identity (mark known devices as trusted).
- Step 4: Enable monitoring for all IoT devices or select specific ones.
- Step 5: Configure alerts for new device connections and suspicious activity.
True Protection IoT protection works best when installed on a device connected to the same network as your IoT devices. For whole-network protection, consider deploying the True Protection Gateway appliance.
