The Vulnerability Scanner in True Protection by Jag identifies security weaknesses in your system configuration and installed software before attackers can exploit them.

What the Vulnerability Scanner Checks

  • Outdated Software: Identifies applications with known security vulnerabilities that need updating.
  • Missing OS Patches: Checks for uninstalled Windows or macOS security updates.
  • Weak Passwords: Analyzes system account passwords for common weaknesses (with your permission).
  • Insecure Settings: Reviews system configuration for security misconfigurations such as disabled firewalls, open sharing, or insecure remote access settings.
  • Network Vulnerabilities: Scans your network configuration for common weaknesses like open ports or unsecured Wi-Fi settings.

Running a Vulnerability Scan

  • Step 1: Navigate to Tools > Vulnerability Scanner.
  • Step 2: Click Start Vulnerability Scan.
  • Step 3: Review the results when complete. Each finding includes a severity rating and recommended fix.

Interpreting Results

Findings are ranked by severity:

  • Critical: Immediate action required. Known exploits exist for this vulnerability.
  • Important: Should be addressed soon. The vulnerability could be exploited under certain conditions.
  • Moderate: Address when convenient. The risk is low but the issue should not be ignored.
  • Informational: Best practice recommendations that improve your overall security posture.

True Protection can automatically update some vulnerable software. For others, it provides direct links to download the latest secure versions.
