Backing Up and Restoring True Protection Settings

True Protection by Jag allows you to export and import your complete configuration, making it easy to back up your settings, transfer them to a new device, or maintain consistent configurations across multiple machines.

What Is Included in a Backup

  • Scan Settings: Scan schedules, exclusion lists, and scan type preferences.
  • Firewall Configuration: All custom firewall rules, application permissions, and network profiles.
  • Privacy Settings: VPN configuration, cookie management rules, tracker blocking preferences, and webcam protection settings.
  • Web Shield Settings: URL allowlists, blocklists, and protection level.
  • Notification Preferences: Alert types, notification methods, and quiet hours.
  • Custom Detection Rules: Any custom YARA rules or IDS rules you have created.

Creating a Backup

  • Step 1: Navigate to Settings > Advanced > Backup and Restore.
  • Step 2: Click Create Backup.
  • Step 3: Choose which configuration sections to include (or select all).
  • Step 4: Optionally set a password to encrypt the backup file.
  • Step 5: Choose the save location. The backup is saved as a .tpjbackup file.

Restoring from a Backup

  • Step 1: Navigate to Settings > Advanced > Backup and Restore.
  • Step 2: Click Restore from Backup.
  • Step 3: Select your .tpjbackup file.
  • Step 4: Choose to Replace All settings or Merge with current settings.
  • Step 5: Review the restoration summary and click Apply.

Automatic backups can be scheduled under Settings > Advanced > Backup and Restore > Auto-Backup. We recommend setting up weekly automatic backups to a cloud storage location or external drive.
