Running Your First Scan

After installing True Protection by Jag, we recommend running a full system scan to establish a security baseline for your device. This article walks you through the different scan types and when to use each one.

Available Scan Types

  • Quick Scan: Checks the most commonly targeted areas including running processes, startup items, and critical system directories. Takes approximately 2 to 5 minutes.
  • Full System Scan: Performs a comprehensive scan of every file on your system. Depending on disk size, this can take 30 minutes to several hours.
  • Custom Scan: Allows you to select specific files, folders, or drives to scan.
  • Boot-Time Scan: Schedules a scan that runs before the operating system fully loads, catching threats that hide during normal operation.

How to Start a Scan

  • Step 1: Open True Protection by Jag from your desktop or system tray.
  • Step 2: Click the Scan button on the main dashboard.
  • Step 3: Select your preferred scan type.
  • Step 4: Click Start Scan and wait for the process to complete.

Understanding Scan Results

When the scan finishes, True Protection will display a summary of findings. Items are classified by severity:

  • Critical: Active malware or rootkits that need immediate removal.
  • High: Potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) or suspicious files.
  • Medium: Tracking cookies or minor privacy concerns.
  • Low: Informational items such as outdated software.

Click Fix All to quarantine or remove all detected threats, or review each item individually to decide the appropriate action.
